Why does the Chocolate Thin Stackers say "May Contain: Milk"
We have a may contain statement for milk in our Chocolate Thin Stackers because there may be a slight chance of cross containment with milk and our chocolate.
Cross Contamination: Mustard and Quinoa
There is a slim chance of mustard cross contamination in our quinoa facility.
There is Wild Mustard that grows in fields near our quinoa and since quinoa and mustard seed have a similar size, shape and weight, there is no way we can guarantee that every mustard seed will be removed during processing.
Our dry, packaged rice is processed at a separate facility, so there is no chance of cross contamination.
Allergen Statement
We are active on the Board of Directors for the Food Allergen Research and Resource Program, which works with research institutions, governmental authorities, consumer groups, and scientific societies around the globe to share our experience and knowledge to improve the safety of food products for consumers with food allergies.
We strive to continuously improve all of our food safety programs and provide clear, concise and transparent information to help our consumers make informed, healthy and safe food choices for your family.
How do you label your allergens on packaging?
At Lundberg, we take allergens seriously and follow a strict honesty policy when labeling products. When an allergen is present in a product the ingredient list will say “contains allergens” and list the allergen in BOLD.
Our in-house cleaning policies ensure that all products with allergens are appropriately processed and stored. Any item in our warehouse that contains allergens will be stored separately from products without allergens and we schedule non allergen products to run before products that contain allergens. The line is cleaned before and after every variety is run and tested for cleanliness after allergens have been run. Since this process is so thorough, we don’t note “may contain allergens” or “processed in a facility that contains” on our products.
“May Contain” is sometimes used when there is potentially an allergen on a shared line or if a supplier has an allergen on a shared line. It may also be used if there is a high risk of cross contamination.

Tell me about your Allergen Handling Policies
We share your concern about food allergies and have many controls in place to avoid cross-contact. We understand the challenges of ensuring safe foods for your family member with severe food allergies.
We have stringent allergen handling policies, and all team members are trained in allergen handling. On every line, we employ scheduling/sequencing and documented clean out/change-over inspections as part of our allergen control plan. We schedule non allergen products to run before varieties that contain allergens. The line is cleaned before and after every variety is run, and tested for cleanliness after allergens have been run.
